The most-watched TV event of the year is just around the corner and that also means that another star of the music world will be performing in the half-time show.
This year Rihanna will be the headline act on stage at State Farm Stadium when the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles give over the spotlight for a longer-than-usual intermission.

There have been plenty of iconic and memorable performances during the 12-minute segment where stars from a different entertainment field get to shine on NFL Championship Sunday.
Prince (2007)
The Artist's half-time show performance in 2007 is considered one of the greatest in the history of the event.
Backed by a brass marching band, His Royal Badness delighted the audience with a medley of his own biggest hits, including "Let's Go Crazy" and "Baby I'm a Star".
He also performed mash-ups of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower," Queen's "We Will Rock You" and Foo Fighters' "Best of You".
He closed the performance, which became more famous after his death in 2016, with a poignant rendition of "Purple Rain" that included an epic guitar solo in the rain.
The Purple One's performance was noted for its incredible stage design, which included a giant purple high-heel shoe-shaped stage, and Prince's electrifying presence, which had the entire stadium on its feet.
Madonna (2012)
The Queen of Pop knew she had to pull out all the stops for her 2012 half-time show performance at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Entering the arena on a golden throne, carried by an army of dancing gladiators, she performed her latest single "Give Me All Your Luvin'" alongside M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj, and many classics from her back catalogue of hits, including "Vogue," "Music," and "Like a Prayer".
The show was also notable for its elaborate stage design and stunning visual effects with Cirque du Soleil performers at their breath-taking best.
It broke the record for the most viewed NFL Championship half-time show ever, surpassing Michael Jackson's previous record, with 114 million viewers throughout the world.
Justin Timberlake (2018)
The former 'NSYNC frontman made use of technology, including projections and special effects during his performance at US Bank Stadium in 2018.
In Prince's home city of Minneapolis, the vocalist paid tribute to the late musician by performing a cover of the High Priest of Pop's 1984 hit "I Would Die 4 U" as well as some of his own most popular numbers.
Timberlake was making his second appearance on stage at an NFL Championship half-time show and this went much better than his first when alongside Janet Jackson 14 years earlier.
That performance ended in controversy when Jackson's outfit was partially pulled off by JT, exposing her breast on live television.
The incident, which became synonymous the phrase 'wardrobe malfunction', sparked a national debate about indecency on broadcast television and led to increased regulations and censorship.

Lady Gaga (2017)
Lady Gaga's half-time show appearance had been a highly anticipated event as many had predicted the headliner would make a divisive post-election political statement.
But it was nothing of the kind, although it was still memorable for its high-flying aerial stunts, which saw Gaga performing from the roof of Houston's NRG Stadium.
She performed some of her biggest hits, including "Born This Way," "Poker Face," and "Bad Romance."
With an empowering message of unity and acceptance interwoven in a performance that was widely praised for its high energy, it solidified Gaga's reputation as one of the biggest pop stars in the world.
Michael Jackson (1993)
The King of Pop performed at the Rose Bowl in 1993 right in the middle of his worldwide Dangerous Tour.
Jackson sang some of his biggest hits, including "Jam," "Billie Jean," "Black or White" and "Heal the World," while also captivating the audience with his famous moonwalk dance moves.
The show was highly praised for its choreography, lighting, and overall production, and is still considered one of the best half-time shows of all-time.
When the TV ratings came in, it was the first time in NFL Championship history that ratings had increased between halves during the game with a gargantuan 133.4 million people tuning in - making it still the most watched half-time show of all.
Aerosmith, NSYNC, Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige and Nelly (2001)
The 2001 half-time show was titled "The Kings of Rock and Pop" and was headlined by Aerosmith and 'N Sync.
It featured a back-and-forth medley between the two headline acts with Aerosmith performing their hits "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing", "Jaded," and "Walk This Way".
The show also featured a special guest appearance by Britney Spears, who joined the band on stage for a performance of "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party)".
