Los Angeles Dodgers superstar rightfielder Mookie Betts has played a major role throughout his team's playoff run, and with the Dodgers leading the New York Yankees 2-0 heading into Game 3, Betts will want to help his team move to the brink of its first World Series since 2020.
With one run scored in each World Series game so far, Betts' odds to win World Series MVP are now +1000, which is tied for the fourth-shortest with Yankees sluggers Giancarlo Stanton and Juan Soto.
Betts had the game-tying sacrifice fly in the eighth inning in Game 1 of the World Series, and he was driven in by a Teoscar Hernandez home run in Game 2.
In 13 games this postseason, Betts is 15-for-61 with four doubles, four home runs, 13 RBI, a 9-9 walk-to-strikeout ratio, and a slash line of .294/.393/.608. He has stepped up a level since the start of October, as he posted a .289/.372/.491 slash line in the regular season.
That said, Betts hasn't played his best at Yankee Stadium, where Game 3, Game 4, and - if necessary - Game 5 will take place. In 48 career games in the Bronx dating back to his time with the Boston Red Sox, he has hit .246/.330/.395.
The Yankees have Clarke Schmidt starting on the mound in Game 3, and Schmidt and Betts have never previously faced off.
Let's take a look at Betts' odds for Game 3 of the 2024 World Series.
