MLS picks & predictions - Saturday, October 19

New York City to win vs. Montreal (+130)

September's 5-1 drubbing by Philadelphia feels like a distant memory for New York City, who have since taken 10 points from a possible 12 in MLS.

After a respectable draw with Inter Miami, they cruised to wins over rivals New York Red Bulls, Cincinnati and Nashville, scoring 11 goals in the process.

They are comfortably nestled in fifth spot in the Eastern Conference and are readying themselves for the playoffs but there is incentive to attack their final game against Montreal.

A win for New York City could see them leapfrog Orlando City into fourth and give them home advantage in round one of the playoffs.

Montreal is looking to cling on to a top-nine berth but NYC should be too strong based on current form.

Inter Miami -1 vs. New England Revolution (-110)

History beckons for Lionel Messi and Inter Miami, who have already secured top spot in the Eastern Conference and the Supporters' Shield.

The next target is to break the MLS single-season points record of 73 - a total which they are just two points off heading into their final game.

A win will be enough to break that record and they can do so in style against New England Revolution, who are 14th out of 15 teams in the Eastern Conference.

Inter Miami have scored 73 goals in 33 matches, so the best bet in this one is for them to win by two goals or more.

LA Galaxy to win vs. Houston Dynamo (+225)

The Western Conference title will go to either of the Los Angeles clubs, and the LA Galaxy are in the driving seat.

The Galaxy need just a point to secure top spot in the Western Conference and they finish their regular-season campaign against the Houston Dynamo.

It is unlikely to be a straightforward contest and Galaxy will know they cannot afford to sit back and hold out for the point given Dynamo's quality on the break.

LA should therefore play on the front foot and they can take confidence from the fact the Dynamo were beaten 3-0 by St. Louis before the international break, so back the visitors to win and guarantee top spot in their conference.
