Portland is one of the form teams in the Western Conference and they can take down potential playoff rivals Real Salt Lake at Providence Park on Saturday.
The Timbers have been in fine form overall with six wins and just one defeat in their last nine games, while they have been particularly impressive at home with five wins and a draw in their last six fixtures.
Portland crushed a visiting Nashville side 4-1 last time out and have the momentum to take down Real.
The Utah outfit have just one win in their last five road games, the other four have finished all square, but with Portland in free-scoring form they can inflict a rare defeat on a Real team who are battling for the top spot in the West.
Philadelphia Union managed to end a five-game losing streak against New York Red Bulls with a 0-0 draw in their last fixture and they could go one better against Toronto FC on Saturday.
Toronto are in the middle of a six-game losing run of their own and have conceded a hefty 17 goals during that period.
Union’s struggles have largely come in Philly as 14 of their 21 points have come on their travels, meaning they have the fifth-best road record in the East despite sitting in ninth place.
Philadelphia can use their point against the Red Bulls as a springboard to pick up all three in Canada, but a Toronto goal looks likely as they have failed to score in only two of their last six games and they are yet to draw a blank at home in any competitions this season.
After a slow start to the season, New England Revolution have found a bit of form in front of goal and a high-scoring game could be on the cards when Orlando City visit Gillette Stadium this weekend.
There have been at least four goals scored in two of the Revs’ last three home games and they have scored in six of their last seven fixtures overall.
Orlando tends to be involved in entertaining affairs as over 3.5 goals has been a winning bet in five of their last six games. City have also scored at least twice themselves in five of those games and have conceded 12 goals in total during that period, which suggests both teams can add to the total and combine for at least four goals.
Seattle faces a tricky trip to key rivals Austin this weekend and they can pick up an important win in Texas.
The Sounders sit in seventh place in the West, one point above their hosts in ninth, and they are the form team here with four wins and a draw in their last five games.
Austin are always a tough side at home but their overall form is mixed with just two wins in their last eight games, losing four of these.
Seattle have managed to put a bit of a run together and are a team who appear to be in the ascendancy so they look backable as the slight underdogs in this Western Conference match-up.
