MLS All-Star Game: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The annual MLS All-Star Game takes place Wednesday at Lower.com Field as the best of the MLS takes on a Liga MX selection.

The MLS roster lost last year's All-Star Game to Arsenal 5-0, but this is expected to be a closer-run affair in Columbus, Ohio. These two shared a 1-1 draw in 2021 (MLS winning 3-2 via penalty kicks) before MLS won 2-1 the following summer.

Although Inter Miami duo Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez have been confirmed to be out, teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba will play for the MLS, as will DC United's Christian Benteke, Toronto's Federico Bernadeschi and France 2018 World Cup winner Hugo Lloris.

Venezuela star Salomon Rondon of CF Pachuca leads the Liga MX attack, with former Real Madrid midfielder Sergio Canales of CF Monterrey and Mexican footballing legend Andres Guardado, still going strong at 37 for Club Leon, also part of the roster heading to Ohio.

MLS All Stars to win (+110)

Two strong teams have been assembled for Wednesday's game but the MLS team is the favorite and when comparing the rosters, that looks fair.

Liga MX is at the start of their season, with the Apertura just four rounds down after the Clausura's conclusion in May, but MLS is deep in mid-season and the home stars should be feeling strong.

They may be missing Messi and Suarez, while others are absent after playing in the Copa America and Euros, or representing Team USA in Paris, but the same is true for Liga MX.

Benteke and Bernardeschi are good stand-ins for the former Barcelona icons, while Luciano Acosta, Denis Bouanga and Evander also add quality and should warm to coach Wilfried Nancy's attacking tactics.

They are unlikely to run away with it but a third straight win for the MLS in this series appeals.

Denis Bouanga anytime goalscorer (+175)

Both Bouanga and Benteke have netted 16 times this MLS season and the two lead the player props for anytime goalscorer.

Benteke made a bright start to the season, opening DC United's campaign with a hat-trick in their 3-1 win over New England but his scoring slowed. His two goals at Minnesota on July 18 were just his fourth and fifth since another hat-trick at Atlanta in May.

Bouanga also scored twice in his team, LAFC's, last game before the All-Star break, a 3-0 win at Seattle and has improved after a slow start.

The Gambian looks the form man and is worth siding with when looking at potential home scorers.

Andre-Pierre Gignac anytime goalscorer (+240)

Among the first recognisable European names to head to Liga MX was Andre-Pierre Gignac, who has been with Tigres UANL since 2015.

The French forward was arguably underappreciated at home but is adored in Nuevo Leon, aiding Tigres in winning the 2015 and 2018 Apertura and the Clausura in 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2022.

El Bomboro is the fourth favorite behind Rondon, German Berterame and Guillermo Martinez of the Liga MX players to score anytime. However, he has shown over the last decade that he knows how to find chances and has netted twice in four games in this season's Apertura.

In a team thrown together, Gignac may not be an automatic starter but should get some minutes in Columbus and his 36 France caps earlier in his career shows the type of class he possesses.
