We're nearing the end of June which means there are only a few weeks left before the All-Star break occurs.
Now is the time for teams to make last-minute surges in the first half of the year before an important second half and some teams have already started that charge, while others have slumped at the wrong time.
Here is the Week 13 Power Rankings in Major League Baseball.
The Phillies have been on a tear recently. The offense is producing at an extremely high rate and the return of Trea Turner has been a big reason for it. Plus, is Bryce Harper a serious candidate for the NL MVP over Shohei Ohtani?
Even without Mookie Betts, the Dodgers have been getting by. However, it’s not like they’ve been challenged much.
Los Angeles enters Friday on a 4-game win streak, but their last three opponents have been the Rockies, Angels, and White Sox.
It’s time to take the Guardians seriously as a possible World Series contender. The Cleveland offense has been on fire recently as they swept the Blue Jays and then took a series from the Orioles in Baltimore.
Don’t sleep on the Guardians anymore.
The AL East slugfest between the Orioles and Yankees has hit a bit of a stalemate. Following their series win over the Yankees, the Orioles were swept by the Astros and then lost a series to the Guardians.
A lack of healthy pitching is starting to become a problem.
It’s been a terrible last few weeks for the Yankees. New York has lost eight of their last 10 games and just lost Giancarlo Stanton for a few weeks due to an injury.
The good news is that Gerrit Cole is back, but even he was just rocked by the Mets.
The Brewers have become a legitimate threat in the National League. Milwaukee has won four straight games and the hot offense hasn’t cooled down yet.
Expect the Brewers to be very active at the trade deadline to help strengthen the starting rotation (Freddy Peralta desperately needs the help).
Are the Red Sox good? Boston has won eight of their last 10 games and have looked like a solid ball club recently.
There are still plenty of issues in their lineup like second base, first base, and designated hitter, but for now, it’s working!
In heartbreaking fashion, the Padres just lost Fernando Tatis Jr. to the injured list. That’s going to leave a lot of responsibility for Luis Arraez, Jurickson Profar, and Manny Machado.
But the good news is Jackson Merrill has been crushing the ball in June.
The Braves are still far away from reclaiming the first place title in the NL East, but they have been playing better recently.
Chris Sale and Reynaldo Lopez have been incredible in the rotation, but the lineup definitely needs some help at the trade deadline - especially in the outfield.
The hottest team in baseball might just be the team that’s .500. The Astros have won seven straight games after a series win over the White Sox and two series sweeps over the Orioles and Rockies.
The offense is finally heating up at the right time.
The Mets just swept the Yankees in a three-game set which means they have won eight of their last 10 games.
The New York lineup has been incredible in June and everything seems to be clicking for the Mets, so the Braves better watch out!
The Mariners are still in possession of first place in the AL West, but if Seattle isn’t careful they could get passed by Houston soon.
As usual, the Seattle rotation has been great, but the lineup is still lackluster. It’s a problem the Mariners need to solve - and fast.
The AL Central has been a very busy division this season. The Guardians jumped out to a great start and the Royals were right behind them, but lately the Royals have slumped and the Twins have surged with the return of Royce Lewis.
Minnesota could be a dark horse in the second half of the season.
St. Louis has stayed in the mix for the NL Central despite not playing great baseball.
Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt haven’t been their normal selves in 2024 and the rest of the lineup has been mediocre, but still, the Cards are winning games.
Even though the Snakes are still below .500, they’ve looked better recently.
Zac Gallen is starting to throw again and Merrill Kelly is expected to start rehab next month, so if the Diamondbacks can stay afloat for another few weeks, it could be a dangerous second half of the season for Arizona.
