Spring training marks the start of the new baseball season, when players report back to their teams and begin to train and play games.

MLB spring training will begin on Thursday, February 20, 2025 with a game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs in Glendale, Arizona, signifying the start of the Cactus League.
On Friday, Feb. 21, the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays will face in the first Grapefruit League game of spring training.

There are two different leagues in Spring Training - the Grapefruit and Cactus Leagues. The Grapefruit League is located in Florida and the Cactus League in Arizona, with 15 teams in each league.
The Cactus League is based in the Phoenix metropolitan area of Arizona, and will include the following teams in 2025.

In addition to the normal month–long schedule of games, the MLB introduced a prospect showcase that, in 2025, will take place between March 13-16 called "Spring Breakout".
