MLB is coming to Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee in 2025.
Given the number of fans that the stadium can seat, the arena known as "The Last Great Coliseum" could see the highest single-game attendance in MLB history for this matchup.
From the participating teams to information about the venue, here's all you need to know about the 2025 MLB Speedway Classic.
The 2025 MLB Speedway Classic will take place on August 2, 2025.
The 2025 MLB Speedway Classic will take place at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee.
The venue can seat up to 146,000 people for motorsports, but given the smaller size of an MLB field compared to a race track, there will be fewer fans in attendance.
MLB still expects a huge crowd for the first Speedway Classic, with renderings showing the field positioned just about in the middle of the track to make as much use of the grandstands as possible.
The only part of the grandstand that will not be in use based on renderings is the curve in the track behind where the field will be positioned. A small number of seats will be added behind home plate and along the base lines, and some fans in the track's grandstand will be seated above the added seats along the first base line.
As a result, this game could rival the March 29, 2008 game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for the largest single-game attendance in MLB history. That game had 115,300 fans in attendance.
Bristol Motor Speedway has hosted three football games in the past, but it has never hosted baseball.
The first game was a 1961 NFL game between Washington and the Philadelphia Eagles. The venue hosted two college football games a week apart in September 2016, with Virginia Tech playing Tennessee a week before East Tennessee State played Western Carolina.
The Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds will play in the 2025 MLB Speedway Classic. They are the MLB teams located the closest to Bristol Motor Speedway.
