San Francisco Giants vs. Los Angeles Dodgers: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The first week of Major League Baseball’s regular season features one of the premier rivalries in the game as the Los Angeles Dodgers take on the San Francisco Giants.

The Dodgers are presumed to be a formality to win the NL West, while their rival Giants are expected to contend for a wild card spot.

With two competitive teams and a historic rivalry, Wednesday will be yet another entertaining head-to-head matchup.

San Francisco Giants vs. Los Angeles Dodgers betting picks and predictions

Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 (-105)

The Dodgers took Game 1 of this series by a score of 5-4 to improve to 6-2 on the season. All due respect to the Giants, until the Dodgers show any vulnerability, they are going to be a reliable play. They have arguably most dangerous 3-headed monster in their lineup that has already reaped impressive results. Further, they have a legitimate ace starting against a more inexperienced starter on the mound for the Giants.

Starting for San Francisco will be Kyle Harrison. Harrison looked good in his debut against the Padres, which was his eigth career start at the age of 22. Not that he cannot quiet the Dodgers, but this lineup is too deep, talented, and experienced to bet on a youngster shutting them down. Harrison’s counterpart, Tyler Glasnow, is much more seasoned, has nasty stuff, and has been very good through two starts early on. This one looks to be all Dodgers once again.

Mookie Betts over 1.5 total bases (-105)

Mookie Betts is off to arguably the best offensive start of all players in the league. Through eight games, Betts is hitting .500 and leads baseball in home runs with five, in RBI’s with 11, in runs with 14, in hits with 15, in walks with eight, in slugging percentage with 1.167, and in OPS with 1.772.

With all that said, even this -105 feels like great value for Betts to collect 2+ bases once again. He has 35 total bases which is an average of 4.38 per game. Betts is slotted in front of RBI machines so if he can get on base, he has a great chance to advance. Lastly, Betts will be facing a left-handed pitcher which has produced better results of his career RHP-LHP splits.

Teoscar Hernandez anytime home run (+350)

Somewhat lost in the splashy offseason acquisitions the Dodgers made, Teoscar Hernandez has shown so far that he should garner much more attention. This is a player that pitchers have had to be careful with in the past. Through eight games this season, he is showing as much. Hernandez has four home runs and nine RBI’s, both of which rank second on the team, along with a .972 OPS.

Similar to Betts, Teoscar Hernandez is another player that excels against left-handed pitching. Given the stellar players that hit in front of him in the lineup, there is a good chance every game that Hernandez will see some high-leverage pitches which can lead to a young pitcher can be more prone to mistakes. Look for Teoscar to give a home run a good look in this one.
