New York Mets vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Game 6: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The NLCS will continue for at least one more game since the Mets beat the Dodgers on Friday night while on the brink of elimination. Jack Flaherty didn’t seem like himself and it caused the Mets to tee off on him and finish with 14 hits and 12 runs en route to a six-run win.

The setting will shift back to Los Angeles for the final two games of the series and the Mets have already announced that Sean Manaea will return to the mound in Game 6.

So, who’s going to counter him for the Dodgers? Let’s dive into our expert’s preview and best bets for this matchup on Saturday night.

New York Mets vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Game 6 betting picks and predictions

New York Mets ML (+120)

Many thought that the Dodgers were going to be able to end the series in New York and have an extended rest before the World Series, but Friday didn’t go the way the Dodgers anticipated.

Jack Flaherty, who had dominated the Mets in Game 1, got shelled in his return to the mound. He allowed 8 runs, 8 hits, and 4 walks in 3 innings and didn’t look like himself. His velocity was down, his secondary pitches weren’t effective, and he just didn’t seem comfortable on the mound.

After the game, Dave Roberts explained that Flaherty has been under the weather, but he couldn’t take him out earlier because Game 6 is a bullpen game for the Dodgers. Roberts knew the game was out of hand early on and made the choice to save the bullpen for Game 6 to give themselves a better chance of winning.

So that’s exactly what’s going to happen in Game 6 as Ryan Brasier is expected to open for the Dodgers. He will likely be followed by Landon Knack, Anthony Banda, Michael Kopech, Alex Vesia, Evan Phillips, Daniel Hudson, and Blake Trenien. It’s going to be a complete bullpen effort to get the win.

The Mets finally got a somewhat decent outing from one of their starting pitchers. In the first few games, the Mets starting rotation had been getting beat up by the Dodgers lineup and it seemed like all their success on the mound against the Phillies in the previous series was gone.

But last night, David Peterson fired 3.2 innings and allowed 2 runs and 6 hits with 4 walks. It wasn’t a great outing, but it was good enough since the Mets were already up by so much.

At this point, there is only one pitcher in the Mets rotation to trust. Sean Manaea has been the most reliable arm for the Mets since the All-Star break and is 2-0 with a 2.65 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in three starts in the postseason.

Manaea started for the Mets in Game 2 of the NLCS and went five innings and surrendered just 2 earned runs and 2 hits while striking out 7. Plus, he will be backed by a bullpen that saved all of their high-leverage arms for Sunday. I’m backing the Mets to even the series at 3 games each with a win in Game 6.

Over 8.0 (-120)

The over is a perfect 5-0 in the series so far. There have been 9, 10, 8, 12, and 18 runs scored through five games, so I’m not going to overthink this one. Both offenses have been red-hot in this series and neither bullpen has been lights out, so runs have been coming in bunches throughout the game.

I’m expecting both teams to contribute towards the over since the Mets are going up against a bullpen game and the Dodgers have scored at least six runs in four of the five games so far.

The last time that the Dodgers utilized a bullpen game was in Game 2, and the Mets took full advantage of the relief arms. New York totaled 10 hits and 7 runs as they teed off on every arm the Dodgers sent out. I’m expecting to see similar results since the Dodgers are going to use a lot of the same arms in Game 6.

The Dodgers lineup has been mashing at the plate in this series. Los Angeles is hitting .257 with an .828 OPS along with 14 extra-base hits and 34 RBIs in the NLCS. Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani have been perfect table setters for the rest of the lineup and Max Muncy, Enrique Hernandez, and Tommy Edman have been rising stars at the bottom of the lineup.

They might not be able to tag Manaea for more than 2 runs, but I’m not too worried since the New York bullpen has been extremely inconsistent this series. I’m backing the trends and taking the over.
