The third game of the current series between the Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds will take place on Saturday, August 31st. This game is scheduled for 7:15 PM ET and will be played at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Brewers go into this game with a record of 79-56. They are currently leading the National League Central by 10 games with their second closest competitor being the Chicago Cubs.
On the other side, the Reds have a record of 64-72. They are 15.5 games behind the Brewers in the National League Central Division and are 10.5 behind the Atlanta Braves for the final Wild Card spot.
Our main prediction for this game will be for the Cincinnati Reds to win. The Reds are expected to start Fernando Cruz, who has a record of 3-8 on the season and his ERA is 5.17.
Cruz’s numbers are a bit skewed as he has primarily been a relief pitcher. He has made only one start all season. In three appearances against the Brewers, Cruz has not allowed a run over 3.0 innings.
As for the Brewers, they are projected to start Frankie Montas. He has generally struggled this season with a record of 6-9 and an ERA of 4.64.
In four of his last five games, Montas has allowed at least three runs and made it past the fifth inning only twice. Montas has especially struggled in away games this season, posting a record of 5-4 over 14 games, but also posting an ERA of 5.05.
The Reds have been playing poorly of late and won just three of their last 10 games, which includes a 14-0 loss last night.
That being said, the Brewers’ pitcher, Montas, is one that the Reds are familiar with as he was on their team as recently as July. Given the struggles from Montas, backing the Reds to win (+105) will be our best bet tonight.

Our first home run prediction will target Elly De La Cruz from the Cincinnati Reds. De La Cruz has been impressive this season, posting an average of .266, the second-highest on the Reds. More importantly, he leads the Reds with 22 home runs.
In 11 games against the Brewers this season, De La Cruz has four home runs in 42 at-bats and two of those have come at home. Given that he has had some success against Milwaukee's pitching this season, backing De La Cruz to hit a home run (+475) looks worth taking.
It is not just the Reds who have hitting power, and Rhys Hoskins from the Milwaukee Brewers also rates a bet to hit a home run.
Hoskins is hitting just .214 this season, but he is second on the Brewers in home runs with 22. Just last night Hoskins hit a homer in the second game of the doubleheader, so take him to follow that up tonight.
