Los Angeles Dodgers vs. New York Mets Game 4 Picks

The Los Angeles Dodgers will be looking to take a commanding 3-1 lead over the New York Mets in the NLCS when the two teams contest Game 4 at Citi Field in New York on Thursday night.

After splitting the first two games in Los Angeles, the Dodgers rolled to an 8-0 victory on Wednesday.  Let’s take a look at the best bets to be made for Game 4, with first pitch set for 8:08 PM ET/5:08 PM PT.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs New York Mets Game 4 betting picks and predictions

Los Angeles Dodgers to win (-140)

This series is by no means over with the Dodgers leading 2-1, but when do you start getting the feeling that the Mets have – or are about to – hit the wall?

They have been in postseason mode for more than two weeks now, especially if you count the makeup double-header against the Atlanta Braves one day after the regular season was supposed to be over.

New York punched its ticket to the playoffs in thrilling fashion, beating the Milwaukee Brewers in even more dramatic style and then upset the NL East rival Philadelphia Phillies in an intense NLDS.

All of that may be taking its toll, as the Mets have now been shut out twice in the first three games against the Dodgers – losing those two contests by a combined score of 17-0.

The Dodgers, on the other hand, are relatively well rested and on an absolute roll. Dating back to their NLDS showdown against the NL West rival San Diego Padres, they have posted four shutouts in the last five games.

That includes a 2-0 victory over San Diego in Game 5 thanks in large part to 5.0 innings of near-perfect baseball from Yoshinobu Yamamoto (two hits, one walk, no runs allowed).

Yamamoto is back on the mound today and not only has momentum from his most recent outing but should also have an advantage since the Mets have seen him only once in his MLB career.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers are quite familiar with New York starter Jose Quintana.

Here are some of their numbers in that matchup: Mookie Betts is batting .286 with a homer and two doubles; Freddie Freeman is batting .313 with a homer and a double; Max Muncy, Will Smith and Kiké Hernandez have also gone deep off Quintana.

Let’s back Los Angeles on the money line, and there is also decent value on the -1.5 run line.

Over 7.0 total runs (-105)

These two teams have taken turns churning out runs through three games in this series. While Los Angeles crossed the plate 17 times in their first two wins, New York scored seven runs in its Game 2 victory.

It would not be a big surprise to see both teams contribute to the Over cashing in Game 4.

In addition to their success against Quintana, the Dodgers’ bats are red hot in general. They have hit 13 home runs already in the postseason and five guys have went yard multiple times – including Muncy with three. Shohei Ohtani has driven in 8 runs in the playoffs after belting a three-run shot in the eighth inning on Wednesday.

The Mets should be able to bounce back offensively – just as they did in Game 2 – and put at least a few runs on the board. Mark Vientos is hitting .366 through 10 postseason games with three home runs and 11 RBIs. Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor have produced plenty of clutch hits during their team’s playoff surge.

Although they are facing a formidable starter in Yamamoto, keep in mind that the right-hander's sample size of success is small. He made only four regular-season starts after June 15 due to injury and his first playoff appearance resulted in five runs allowed in 3.0 innings against the Padres.

All things considered, the Over looks like the way to go for a second straight day.
