Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Cincinnati Reds: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Cincinnati Reds will continue their three-game series when they meet again at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati on Saturday night.

Although the Reds are struggling overall at 21-30, they picked up a 9-6 victory in the series opener on Friday. Despite that setback, the Dodgers still boast a healthy 33-20 record for a comfortable lead atop the National League West.

With Saturday’s contest set for 7:15pm ET and televised on FOX, it’s time to break down the betting odds and make our best bets.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Cincinnati Reds betting picks and predictions

Cincinnati Reds +1.5 (-122)

It is no surprise that the Dodgers – as is generally the case – are favored on the betting market. However, the Reds appear to have good value on both the money line and the run line. Obviously Cincinnati +1.5 is the safer play, and you have to like the home team’s chances of at least making this game competitive.

The Reds are going with rising star Hunter Greene on the mound. Greene’s most recent outing came against none other than the Dodgers last Sunday and he held them to just two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out eight batters in 6.1 innings of work. The 24-year-old right-hander has allowed no more than two runs or fewer in four of his last five starts and has not given up more than three in any of his last five appearances.

L.A. is countering with Walker Buehler, who is making only his fourth start of the 2024 campaign as he returns from 2022 Tommy John Surgery. Understandably, Buehler is rusty to the tune of a 4.05 ERA.

With the Dodgers having lost three in a row and averaging a modest three runs per game during this cold stretch, the Reds should feel good about their chances on Saturday.

Under 9.0 (-110)

The under also looks like a strong play, especially with the total set at a relatively large 9.0 number.

Greene (2-2, 3.22 ERA, 66 strikeouts in 58.2 innings) has impressed this whole year, especially of late. His performance against the Dodgers last weekend was especially encouraging. Although Buehler has been mediocre overall so far this year, he did not give up a single run in 6.0 innings against the Reds last Saturday. He recorded seven strikeouts and did not issue a single walk.

When you also consider the fact that Cincinnati’s offense is nothing special and Los Angeles’ bats have cooled off in recent days, you have to like the under.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Cincinnati Reds odds

On the money line, the Dodgers are -155 favorites and the Reds come in at +130. A $15.50 wager on Los Angeles gets you $10 of profit if the visiting team gets the job done; a $10 bet on Minnesota returns $13 in winnings if the home team pulls off a minor upset.

Los Angeles is a -1.5 favorite on the run line at +102, making Cincinnati a +1.5 underdog with -122 odds. That means a $10 wager on the Dodgers returns $10.20 in profit if they win by at least two runs; a $12.20 bet on the Reds nets $10 in winnings if they either prevail outright or lose by no more than one run.

The game total, or over/under, is set at 9.0 runs and both sides come with -110 odds. An $11 over wager is successful and nets $10 of profit if the two teams combine for at least 10 runs; an $11 under bet gets you $10 in winnings if no more than eight runs are scored in the game. If exactly nine runs are scored, all bets are pushed and the stakes are returned.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Cincinnati Reds player props

Jonathan India Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs (+120)

India (.223, three home runs, 15 RBIs) has not exactly been crushing it this season for the Reds, but he heads into Saturday’s contest with plenty of momentum. During Friday’s win he went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, a walk and four RBIs.

That should set up the 27-year-old second baseman for more production. Not only can he take confidence from his previous performance, but he has also enjoyed some success against Buehler (3-for-8 lifetime). With Buehler not yet back in peak form in his comeback from injury, look for India to take advantage and maintain his hot form.
