Pittsburgh Pirates sensation Paul Skenes will be the first rookie pitcher to start an MLB All-Star Game since Hideo Nomo in 1995 - also in Arlington, Texas.
Skenes has lit up the bigs since being called up on May 8, starting 11 games and posting a 1.90 ERA for a 6-0 record.
The 22-year-old flamethrower regularly touches 100 MPH with his fastball, making it incredibly difficult for hitters who haven't faced him before to keep up. In Skenes' last start before the All-Star break, he went 7 IP against the Milwaukee Brewers, allowing no hits while striking out 11.
And now, the rookie star will start on the bump for the National League on Tuesday night.
It's important to note that Skenes will likely only pitch the first inning to avoid any unneeded stress on his throwing arm.
