Miller Moss: Stats, player profile, potential teams & more

Quarterback Miller Moss entered the transfer portal after an up-and-down 2024 season with the USC Trojans.

The Trojans, with Moss under center, finished with a 4-5 record in the Big Ten in the program's first season in the conference. Moss led the conference in passing yards per game, despite talented signal-callers including Oregon's Dillon Gabriel, Penn State's Drew Allar and Ohio State's Will Howard also playing in the Big Ten.

A head injury kept Moss out for most of November, and the team went 3-1 without him, having beaten Rutgers, Nebraska and crosstown rivals UCLA before losing their final game to No. 5 Notre Dame.

With Moss, the Trojans went 4-5, beating LSU, Utah State, Wisconsin and Rutgers, but they lost to Michigan, Minnesota, Penn State, Maryland and Washington.

Moss is widely regarded as one of the top QBs in to enter the transfer portal in this window. Let's take a look at his stats, how he plays and where he could end up.

Miller Moss player profile

Miller Moss is a pro-style pocket passer. He had the misfortune of being the USC starting QB immediately following Heisman winner and No. 1 overall 2024 NFL Draft pick Caleb Williams, who led the team to one of its best seasons in the past decade in 2022.

Moss was trusted with a heavy workload often during USC's 2024 season, as he threw 35 times or more in six of his nine games. He surpassed 300 passing yards on four occasions, with a season high of 378 yards in his team's season-opening win over LSU for which he won the Big Ten's Offensive Player of the Week award.

He only had two games with multiple interceptions, but he averaged one interception per game and went without an interception in just three contests.

Moss flashed his ability to move in the pocket and find receivers at all three levels of the field in that LSU game, but the program's fortunes - and, seemingly, morale - deteriorated toward the end of the season which saw quite a few Trojans players join the QB in the portal.

Miller Moss possible next teams

Moss has been linked to plenty of programs, but Louisville, Missouri and Michigan are the most common teams mentioned.

Louisville's 2024 starting QB Tyler Shough is out of eligibility, and he put up similar stats to Moss as he led the Cardinals to an 8-4 overall record and a 5-3 record in the ACC. Shough had a lower completion percentage than Moss, but in three more games than Moss played, Shough had a lower completion percentage but 64 more yards and five more TDs.

Missouri is losing top receiver and projected first-round draft pick Luther Burden III this offseason, but Moss could be a nice replacement for QB Brady Cook. Cook had his worst season as a starter by far in 2024 with a 9-2 TD-INT ratio in 11 games, indicating that Moss could be a considerable improvement.

Michigan recently landed top QB recruit Bryce Underwood for next season, but if they do not want to throw him into the fire as soon as he steps on campus, Moss would be an ideal stop-gap. Moss has one year of eligibility left, and he could be the guy to lead new offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey's offense in Ann Arbor.
