Two American swimmers will take to the pool for the men's 100m freestyle final, but they'll have to beat the current world record holder and a former world record holder to win gold.
Jack Alexy and Chris Giuliano, both part of the gold medal-winning 4x100m relay team, will represent the Stars and Stripes in this event.
The current men's 100m freestyle world record holder, Zhanle Pan of China, finished with the fastest time - 47.21s - in the two semifinal races in this event. Australia's Kyle Chalmers posted the second-fastest time, but finished three tenths of a second behind Pan.
Former world record holder David Popovici of Romania posted the fourth-fastest overall time, finishing two hundredths of a second ahead of Alexy.
