Memphis Grizzlies: +8000 to win NBA Championship after firing Taylor Jenkins

The Memphis Grizzlies fired head coach Taylor Jenkins on March 28th despite the team sitting in fifth place in the Western Conference with a 44-29 record.

The team has nine games left on its regular season schedule, but a 5-5 record in the last 10 games, capped off with a 125-104 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on March 27th, was evidently enough to force the front office's hand.

After Jenkins' firing, the Grizzlies now have the 10th-shortest odds at +8000 to win the NBA Championship.

Memphis is also +2500 to win the Western Conference, which are the seventh-shortest odds in that market.

Jenkins took over as Grizzlies coach ahead of the 2019/20 season, and he led the team to increase its win total in each of his first three seasons. The team's best season under Jenkins' watch was 2021/22, which ended with 56 regular-season wins and an appearance in the conference semifinals.

In the last 10 games, though, Memphis ranked 20th in field goal percentage (46.5 percent), 18th in three-point percentage (37.1 percent), and 13th in points per game (117.1). They went 1-3 in their last four games, losing to the Portland Trail Blazers, Los Angeles Clippers and the Thunder
