The Memphis Grizzlies were ravaged by injuries in the 2023/24 season, but the team is now healthy which makes them one of the league's most intriguing squads ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
Memphis finished 13th out of 15 Western Conference teams in 2023/24 with a 27-55 record. The team utilized a single-season NBA record 32 players over the course of the entire season.
Ja Morant was limited to nine games, Marcus Smart was limited to 20, Desmond Bane played in 42 games, and even role players like Brandon Clarke, Luke Kennard and Scotty Pippen Jr. all played in less than 41 games.
Put more simply, Jaren Jackson Jr. was the only player to play in more than 65 games for the Grizzlies in 2023/24.
This time around, the Grizzlies enter the season with the 15th-shortest NBA Championship odds.
And, Memphis has a handful of guys among the favorites for individual awards including Ja Morant (+3300 to win Regular Season MVP, 10th-shortest), Zach Edey (+325 Rookie of the Year favorite), Jackson (+2000 for Defensive Player of the Year, joint sixth-shortest), and even head coach Taylor Jenkins (+900 co-favorite for Coach of the Year).
The Grizzlies had consecutive 50-win seasons in 2021/22 and 2022/23, and the team and its fans will hope that 2023/24 was a worst-case scenario that Morant, Jackson, Jenkins and company have since moved past.
