Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen, the three-time reigning Formula One World Drivers' Champion, started the season in dominant fashion with four wins in the first five races and has held onto first place in the driver standings ever since.
Heading into the Las Vegas Grand Prix, the third-to-last race of the 2024 F1 campaign, Verstappen leads the driver standings by 62 points.
Before cars hit the track for Free Practice 1, Verstappen is +240 to win the Grand Prix, -275 to finish on the podium, and -1200 to finish in the top six. He's also +275 to have the fastest lap and +800 to both win the race and post the fastest lap.
Verstappen can lock up his fourth consecutive Divers' Championship by winning in Vegas or by finishing ahead of Lando Norris of McLaren, who is second in the standings. The reigning champion needs to be at least 60 points clear of Norris in the standings after Vegas to lock up the title with two races remaining.
Norris needs to outscore Verstappen by at least three points in Vegas if the McLaren driver wants to keep the title race alive, and he's slightly favored over the Red Bull star to win in Sin City as a result of finishing ahead of Verstappen in four of the last six races.
Even if Norris outscores Verstappen by three points in Vegas, the McLaren man needs plenty to go his way in the last two Grand Prix and last Sprint of the season. He'd need Verstappen to go without a point while winning the three events and posting the fastest lap in each Grand Prixs in order to win his first Drivers' Championship.
Because of all that needs to go Norris' way, Verstappen enters Vegas as the heavy -5000 favorite to win the individual title.
