The FA Community Shield is the curtain-raiser to the new club soccer season in England, and this year it's a Manchester derby as Premier League winners Manchester City face FA Cup winners Manchester United.
Manchester City has not made any major additions, with Brazilian winger Savinho being the only first-team signing after he joined from City Football Group-owned club Troyes. Savinho projects to be a squad player after a stellar 2023/24 season on loan to another CFG club, Girona.
Manchester United brought in center back Leny Yoro and striker Joshua Zirkzee, but Yoro picked up a foot injury in preseason that will keep him out for three months.
Manchester United vs. Manchester City in the Community Shield will be streamed on ESPN+ in the United States.
