MLS league format

Each team in MLS will play 34 regular season games, 17 at home and 17 away.

The two teams that lead their conferences at the end of the season will go straight into Round One of both the playoffs and the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Teams finishing second to sixth go straight into Round One, while eight and nine go into a Wild Card round, where they face off in a one-off tie.

The regular season will pause for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup in late June, but there will be no break for Leagues Cup in August as there was in 2024.

MLS All-Star Game

The MLS All-Star Game is an annual exhibition soccer match held in the middle of the season in July or August. The 2025 edition will be hosted at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas, the home of Austin FC.

The game features the best players from MLS, selected through a combination of fan voting, media voting, and player voting, playing against an international opponent, which could be another league's all-star team, a specific club team, or a national team. The 2025 opponent has yet to be announced.
