The San Jose Sharks selected center Macklin Celebrini first overall in the 2024 NHL Draft after he starred in his one year at Boston University, and he's set to make his NHL debut in the Sharks' season opener against the St. Louis Blues.
Celebrini led BU in goals (32), finished second in assists (32) and led the team in points (64) en route to becoming the youngest player to win the Hobey Baker Award honoring the top college hockey player.
To open the season, Celebrini projects to be San Jose's first-line center with 21-year-old William Eklund (16 goals, 29 assists for San Jose last season) and the more experienced Tyler Toffoli (33 goals, 22 assists for the New Jersey Devils and Winnipeg Jets last season) on the rookie's wings.
The rookie will also likely be on his team's top power play unit, so he should see plenty of chances to rack up the points in his debut campaign. He enters the season as the +450 second-favorite for the Calder Trophy, behind only Philadelphia Flyers winger Matvei Michkov.
Ahead of Celebrini's first professional hockey game, let's take a look at his odds, lines, and player props for the October 10 game vs. the St. Louis Blues.
