The unrelenting thrash and crash of the League of Legends Pro League Summer Split continues this week, with matches once again taking place every single day.
Now into week seven, the LPL Summer 2022 is past the halfway stage and it is becoming increasingly clear which ten teams are most likely to advance to the play-off phase.
Going into week eight, Top Esports and JD Gaming have been the two standout teams this season, each only losing one of their 12 matches, while at the opposite end of the standings Team WE remain winless after ten games.
With the play-offs edging closer and the League of Legends World Championship not too far away, here is a look at matches taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
What | LNG Esports v Edward Gaming |
Where | China |
When | 04.45am ET, Tuesday 26th July |
How to watch | LPL Twitch channel |
Odds | LNG Esports +200, Edward Gaming -275 |
They fell to a defeat but LNG Esports should be proud of their performance against highflying Victory Five last time out, having shown great resilience in game one and keeping things fairly tight in game two.
LNG kept the gold count relatively close on both maps and the kill count was kept relatively tight given the strength of opposition at 44-27.
Losing the match is naturally a blow as LNG move to a 6-6 record, giving them a tenuous hold of a playoff berth, but they can keep it competitive in their next assignment against Edward Gaming.
Edward Gaming are favoured to win this match, but they are only just above LNG Esports in the LPL Summer standings with a 7-5 record, having been beaten by a strong Royal Never Give Up side in their latest match.
With that in mind, this could be a close contest and LNG Esports are worth backing at +1.5 on the match handicap at -163.
What | JD Gaming v Victory Five |
Where | China |
When | 7:00am ET, Tuesday 26th July |
How to watch | LPL Twitch channel |
Odds | JD Gaming +110, Victory Five -150 |
In week seven of the LPL Summer Split, JD Gaming became the first team to book their spot in the play-offs, with victory over Invictus Gaming giving them a 10-1 record for the season.
They followed that with a 2-1 win over Bilibili Gaming in their final match of the week to take that record to 11-1, but their recent results do not tell the full story.
Despite their decent position, JD have conceded a surprisingly high ten games, having been taken to three games in four of their last five contests in the LPL Summer.
On top of that, the team is lacking a true leader, with no JD Gaming player having been among the team of the week awards recently and their flaws could be exposed when they take on fellow high-flyers Victory Five at the start of week eight.
Victory Five have also secured a spot in this year's LPL Summer play-offs, winning ten of their 11 matches, and they are a consistent threat on the circuit, having topped the LPL Spring standings earlier this year with a 14-2 record.
They are a decent bet option to win this one.
What | LGD Gaming v Team WE |
Where | China |
When | 04.45am ET, Wednesday 27th July |
How to watch | LPL Twitch channel |
Odds | LGD Gaming -138, Team WE +100 |
Both LGD Gaming and Team WE should feel like they finally have a chance of starting a game week with victory in the LPL Summer 2022 as the struggling pair go head to head on Wednesday.
LGD have a marginally better record in the LPL Summer than Team WE, having picked up one win from their nine matches with WE winless from their ten assignments.
However, there is still not that much between these sides and LGD Gaming lost their most recent contest against Edward Gaming 2-0 in week seven.
With that in mind, this could be a tight one with both sides battling for pride and it looks likely to go the distance, so back over 2.5 maps at -110.
