South region No. 8 seed Louisville will take on No. 9 Creighton in the first game of the round of 64 in the 2025 Men's NCAA Tournament.
It will be an ACC vs. Big East battle to kick off the first round of March Madness on Thursday afternoon, the first of 32 opening round games across Thursday and Friday in the men's tourney.
Under new head coach Pat Kelsey, Louisville is enjoying its best season in years. The Cardinals went a combined 12-52 across the last two seasons, and had not made the tournament since 2019. In 2024/25, Kelsey led his team to a 27-7 record overall and 18-2 conference record, and now an 8-seed in the dance. Transfers Terrence Edwards (16.6 PPG) and Chucky Hepburn (16.2 PPG) have been key for the Cardinals in their turnaround.
Creighton, on the other hand, is a regular in the tournament, with 2025 marking their fifth-straight appearance. Greg McDermott has led the Blue Jays out of the first round in seven of nine appearances since taking over in 2010.
Creighton went 24-10 this year, sticking together after losing standout guard Pop Isaacs for the season in December. 7-foot center Ryan Kalkbrenner (19.4 PPG) is once again the main man for the Blue Jays as he enters his fifth NCAA Tournament.
Louisville vs. Creighton will be broadcast on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.
All March Madness games can be streamed live on the March Madness Live App with a TV provider sign-in.
Louisville vs. Creighton will tip off at 12:15 PM ET / 9:15 AM PT on Thursday, March 20 from Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky.
