We analyze the credentials and statistics of Teofimo Lopez and Jamaine Ortiz as Lopez makes the first defence of his WBO world super-lightweight title.
Lopez looked to be heading for the top of the sport before 'The Takeover' suffered a shock defeat to George Kambosos Jr in 2021.
The 26-year-old lost his WBA, WBO and IBF titles to the Australian, but Lopez is now back in the big time.
The New Yorker defeated former undisputed welterweight champion Josh Taylor in his hometown last year, in addition to previous quality victories over Vasyl Lomachenko and Richard Commey. The Takeover is now looking like the elite-level fighter the boxing world expected him to become.
Ortiz, on the other hand, has an excellent victory over Jamel Herring on his card and 'The Technician' took the high-class Lomachenko 12 rounds in 2022, losing via unanimous decision.
It’s an intriguing contest, but who will come out on top?

Lopez made his professional debut against Ishwar Siqueiros in 2016 and the Takeover quickly began to build his reputation.
The 26-year-old won his first five contests by stoppage and the New York puncher was ripping through his rivals.
The Takeover stepped up to lightweight to take on Mason Menard for the NABF & USBA lightweight titles in 2018, and Lopez took just 44 seconds to win via knockout.
The 26-year-old moved up through the ranks and defeated the previously unbeaten Masayoshi Nakatani in 2019.
Lopez then clashed with Richard Commey later that year and the New Yorker ended the bout in the second round to secure the IBF world lightweight title.
At this point, Lopez was one of the hottest boxers on the planet and the build up to the 2020 clash with Lomachenko was feverish.
Lopez scored a wide-margin points victory over the Ukrainian and became a three-belt world champion. Everything was going according to plan for the 26-year-old, but then came the 2021 clash with Kambosos Jr.
The Takeover was a red-hot favourite for the Madison Square Garden rumble, but the Australian shocked the champion and walked away with the three lightweight belts.
The American puncher has since returned at super-lightweight and he became a two-weight world champion when beating the former undisputed 140lbs king Josh Taylor last year.
Lopez is back at the top of the sport and it’s going to take an extremely strong performance to take over.

Ortiz is set for the biggest fight of his career when he takes on Lopez. The 27-year-old is moving up from lightweight to take on the Takeover and it’s the Technician’s first crack at a world title.
The Massachusetts native has a big win over Herring on his card and went the distance in a losing effort against Lomachenko.
The Technician does have the experience of those big-fight nights to call on, but this looks a stiff test at a new weight class. Plus, this will only be his seventh fight outside of his native New England region.
Ortiz has the chance to make his world title dreams come true in Las Vegas, but he has a big challenge when it comes to the possibility of upsetting Lopez.
