Luis Alberto Lopez makes a mandatory defense of his IBF world featherweight against Reiya Abe on Saturday, March 2.
Lopez has put together a 12-fight winning streak and the Mexican captured the IBF belt when defeating Britain's Josh Warrington back in 2022.
El Venado has made two successful defences of that title against Michael Conlan and Joet Gonzalez and the 30-year-old has now been ordered to fight Abe but the organization.
Abe has previously held the WBO Asia Pacific and Japanese featherweight titles. The Fukushima-born fighter arrives after a unanimous-decision victory over Kiko Martinez in April.
The contest will take place on the night of Saturday, March 2.
The IBF world featherweight bout is the co-feature event on the card. It’s expected that the clash between Lopez and Abe will get underway around 11 PM ET. The exact start time will depend on the duration of the undercard contests.
The featherweight contest will take place at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, New York. The 5,000-seat arena was constructed in 1993 and the resort boasts a casino, golf course and entertainment venue.
The bout will stream live on ESPN+.
Lopez is the red-hot -800 favourite and the Mexican is +150 to win by stoppage.
Abe is +500 to win and cause what would be a major upset, and he +800 to win by decision.
Lopez makes his third defense of the IBF world featherweight title that he captured when beating Warrington in Leeds two years ago.
The governing body have ordered the Mexican to take on Abe and the IBF strap will be on the line.
Abe has previously held the WBO Asia Pacific and Japanese featherweight belts and the Fukushima fighter gets a first crack at world level.
