After a 4-13 season, the Las Vegas Raiders fired head coach Antonio Pierce.
Pierce took over from Josh McDaniels and was named interim head coach ahead of Week 8 of the 2023 season and led the team to a 5-4 record, but he couldn't get the same results during his one year without the interim tag.
In 2023, the Raiders finished the season ranked 23rd in points scored and ninth in points allowed, but in 2024, the team ended the season ranked 29th and 27th in those categories, respectively.
Pierce was hurt by the franchise's uncertainty under center, and that's something the team has to figure out this offseason. Las Vegas holds the sixth-overall pick in a draft with two consensus top-tier quarterback prospects.
The one silver lining from 2024 was the fact that Brock Bowers, the tight end selected 13th overall in 2024, had the best rookie season by a TE in NFL history with 112 catches, 1,194 yards and five TDs as he earned a first-team All-Pro honor.
But going into 2025, Raiders owner Mark Davis will need to figure out not only who will get him the ball, but who will coach the team.
Here, we'll take a look at the odds to become the next Las Vegas Raiders head coach.
Ben Johnson | +110 |
Pete Carroll | +150 |
Brian Flores | +1000 |
Deion Sanders | +1600 |
Aaron Glenn | +2000 |
Kliff Kingsbury | +2200 |
Todd Monken | +2500 |
Two candidates - Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll - have separated themselves as favorites to get the Raiders head coaching job. They are each shorter than 2/1.
Johnson is the +110 favorite to be named the next Raiders head coach. Now that his team has been eliminated from the playoffs, other franchise could move quickly to hire him.
The Lions OC will be in demand as he led the No. 1-ranked scoring offense in the NFL this season. Johnson has seen his name linked to many head coaching jobs in the last couple of offseasons but has said he will only leave Detroit for the right situation.
Former championship-winning head coach Carroll has jumped to second-favorite at +150, as the 73-year-old eyes a return to the NFL sidelines in 2025. Carroll won a championship with Seattle in 2013 and had a 10-9 playoff record in 14 seasons there.
Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores (+1000) is third-shortest in the betting as he led the Vikings to allow the fifth-fewest points this season. Flores has head coaching experience, having led the Miami Dolphins from 2019-2021.
Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders is next in the odds at +1600. Sanders, also known as 'Coach Prime', took the Buffs from a 4-8 record in 2023 to a 9-4 record in 2024.
The slight longshots to get the job, from 20/1 to 25/1, are Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, Washington Commanders OC Kliff Kingsbury, and Baltimore Ravens OC Todd Monken. They're followed by 40/1 outsiders Bill Belichick, Kevin O'Connell and Mike McCarthy.
