Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson has two NFL MVP Awards to his name, and he is the favorite to win a third as a result of his performance in Week 7.
Jackson entered Week 7 as the second-favorite in the MVP market, behind only Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes. Jackson was +550 entering the latest slate of games, while Mahomes was ahead at +300.
Now, after the Ravens' 41-31 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jackson is the +275 favorite. Mahomes is just behind him at +400 after the Chiefs beat the 49ers in a rematch of last year's championship game.
A third MVP Award would see Jackson move into a tie with Johnny Unitas, Jim Brown and Brett Favre on the all-time list, and he would trail only four-time winner Aaron Rodgers and five-time winner Peyton Manning.
The Chiefs (+425) are still ahead of the Ravens (+600) in the outright market, although Baltimore overtook the San Francisco 49ers for second in the odds after Week 7.
Jackson went off against the Bucs, completed 17/22 passes for 281 yards (12.8 yards per attempt; 16.5 yards per catch) and five touchdown passes with no interceptions. He also rushed nine times for 52 yards.
The Ravens are now 5-2 after they started the season 0-2. Over the course of Baltimore's active five-game winning streak, he has completed 71.5 percent of his passes for 1,290 yards and a 13-1 TD-INT ratio, while only taking six sacks and rushing for 5.5 yards per carry with two scores on the ground.
In Week 8, Baltimore faces the 1-6 Cleveland Browns, who have struggled this season to say the least. Browns QB Deshaun Watson suffered a ruptured Achilles in Week 7, so Sunday's game will tell fans whether they will fare any better with Jameis Winston under center.
For Jackson, the matchup against the Browns will give him a chance to further boost his resume against a defense that ranks 18th in points allowed per game and 28th in turnovers caused. The Ravens are favored by -10.5 points in that matchup, and they're priced at -700 ML to beat the Browns.
