Burke's can hare off and land Queen Mary

Karl Burke also trained the one-two in the Marygate Fillies' Stakes at York, a race that has already produced multiple Queen Mary winners and runner-up YAHSAT represents the form.

She was only just touched off by Pillow Talk at York, with nearly three lengths back to the rest. She has loads of speed and the evidence from Tuesday's Coventry Stakes suggests that being on the far side is no great hardship.

Yahsat may well make her own pace from stall three and can outrun deeply unflattering odds to further advertise both the York race and her trainer's excellent season so far.

Bay Bridge to give best to French fancy

The Prince Of Wales's Stakes is likely to be a tactical affair and it could well be decided by which horse has the best change of pace, rather than their outright ability.

Such was the turn of foot Bay Bridge showed in the Brigadier Gerard, he will not be unduly inconvenienced. However, French raider GRAND GLORY could be even better suited to the test.

Her closing sectionals compare favourably with those State Of Rest recorded on the same card when she won at Longchamp last time.

Her Group 1 win at Deauville last summer was also marked by supreme acceleration. She might be the outsider of the lot, but if this race turns into a sprint Grand Glory will be a major player.

Flying filly can trump established rivals

Saffron Beach and Mother Earth meet for the fourth time in the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes, with the score two-one in the latter's favour. However, Saffron Beach seems to be on more of an upward curve, so she deserves to be the shorter price.

Improver BASHKIROVA has more improvement in her than either of them and comes here in flying form. She has only lost out once so far over a mile, that being on her reappearance when she might have needed the run at Goodwood.

She took the step into Group company in her stride at Epsom last time and most of her good relatives got better with age.

William Haggas has few peers when it comes to handling this type of late-maturing horse and Bashkirova has every chance of upstaging the old rivals ahead of her in the betting.
