Kamaru Usman will enter the octagon for the first time in almost two years when he faces Joaquin Buckley at UFC Fight Night on Saturday, June 14, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Usman is coming off three consecutive losses entering this welterweight bout. The first two were against Leon Edwards, where the Nigerian Nightmare lost via KO and majority decision, respectively.
His most recent defeat was via majority decision at the hands of Khamzat Chimaev in October 2023. The 38-year-old will look to end the losing streak this weekend.
Buckley, on the other hand, has won each of his last six fights, which includes four bouts in 2024. Three of his wins last year were via stoppage, and he won the UFC 307 Performance of the Night bonus thanks to his knockout of Stephen Thompson.
Because of his own losing streak paired with Buckley's strong form, Usman, who held the welterweight championship from 2019 to 2021, is the +225 underdog to win this match.
Usman is also +550 to win via decision, +450 to win by KO/TKO/DQ, and +2500 to win via submission.
The former champion has four career MMA losses, and three of those were in his last three fights. Can he get back in the win column and start his journey back to the top of the mountain on Saturday in Atlanta?
