American tennis player Jessica Pegula has made the semfinals of a major tournament for the first time in her career, and she will compete for a spot in the 2024 US Open Final against World No. 52 Karolina Muchova.
Muchova, a 28-year-old from the Czech Republic, is in her second US Open women's singles semifinal after having made it this far at last year's edition. She beat Jasmine Paolini and Beatriz Haddad Maia in the previous two rounds to get to this stage.
Pegula, ranked sixth in the world, beat Diana Shnaider in the round of 16 before upsetting World No. 1 Iga Swiatek in straight sets in the quarterfinals.
