Arizona Cardinals No. 3 overall pick running back Jeremiyah Love injured his ankle in the team's second preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders last night, but it is not expected to be serious according to head coach Mike LaFluer.
Love could've returned if needed, but in a preseason game, it wouldn't have been worth it.
The rookie played all of the first half and showed why he was selected so highly in the draft - he rushed for 58 yards on 11 carries while adding three receptions for 14 yards through the air. Love had a run that he bounced out to the left side boundary then spun back inside, making a defender look silly, before having another run that included a hurdle.
Lafleur is hopeful that Love returns to practice next week; the Cardinals' next game is home against the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday, August 22.
