An automatic bid to the College Football Playoff - likely the only bid from the conference - is on the line in the Big 12 Championship as the No. 16 Iowa State Cyclones face the No. 12 Arizona State Sun Devils in Arlington, Texas.
The Sun Devils started the season somewhat slowly, going 5-2 through its first seven games with losses to Texas Tech and Cincinnati, but head coach Kenny Dillingham's team ended the season 5-0 including wins over then-No. 20 Kansas State and then-No. 14 BYU.
The Cyclones, on the other hand, started their season 7-0, suffered two consecutive losses to Texas Tech and Kansas, and has since beaten Cincinnati, Utah and Kansas State.
