Dimitri Van den Bergh has notched up one ranking title victory in his career to date, the 2020 World Matchplay… on debut.

‘The DreamMaker’ lived up to his moniker has he stormed to victory in a competition that is largely perceived to be the second most prestigious on the tour – behind the World Championship.

He overcame Nathan Aspinall, Joe Cullen, Adrian Lewis, Glen Durant and finally Gary Anderson to notch his maiden television title – a feat that secured him a career-high £115,000 payday.

Van den Bergh has since reached two other ranking finals – the 2021 World Matchplay and the 2021 World Series of Darts Finals – but was beaten on both occasions by Peter Wright and Jonny Clayton.

Van den Bergh is the current world number 10, with his two-year prize money totalling just over £450,000.

Almost a quarter of that total was secured at the 2023 World Darts Championship, with his superb run to the semi-final capturing him £100,000, although his hopes of the £500,000 top prize were ended by Michael van Gerwen in crushing fashion (0-6).

How old is Dimitri van den Bergh?

Van den Bergh is 28-years-old and will turn 29 on 8th July. 

He made his TV debut in the final of the 2015 World Series of darts Finals after coming through an arduous qualifying campaign, but his TV bow ended in disappointment as Max Hopp ran out a 6-3 winner in the first round.

Where is Dimitri Van den Bergh from?

He was born in Antwerp, Belgium, but now resides in Ilkeston, England, given his PDC Tour commitments.
