The Indiana Pacers surprised the rest of the league by making the Eastern Conference Finals in 2023/24, and they'll look to build on that deep playoff run this season.
The Pacers finished '23/24 with a 47-35 record to finish sixth in the East. Tyrese Haliburton missed 13 games, most of which were due to a hamstring injury, and the team went 7-6 without the star point guard.
Haliburton made his second All-Star appearance last season and led the league with 10.9 assists per game while turning the ball over just 2.3 times per game. He played a key role in the development of head coach Rick Carlisle's three-point heavy, pace and space approach on offense.
Indiana kept its core together this offseason and added a couple of pieces to the fringes of its rotation. Second-year power forward Jarace Walker should earn more playing time, while rookie draft pick Johnny Furphy and free agent signing - and 2020 second-overall pick - James Wiseman can each play their way into the rotation.
After the deep playoff run last season, the Pacers enter the 2024/25 campaign as one of the league's most intriguing teams, especially as Eastern Conference rivals the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers each added a star this offseason.
Indy is less flashy than either of those teams or the reigning champion Boston Celtics, but the playoffs showed the Pacers' affinity for finding open shots quickly works with the right players.
