The WNBA playoffs begin Sunday with four games, including the No. 3 seed Connecticut Sun hosting the sixth-seeded Indiana Fever at 15:00 ET.
Connecticut, 28-12 overall and 14-6 at home, is in the postseason for the eighth straight year, while the Fever, 20-20 overall and 8-12 on the road, are making their first playoff appearance in eight years.
Connecticut took three of the four games played between these two squads in the regular season, including winning both games at home by an average of 19 points. However, the Fever took the last matchup, an 84-80 victory at home last month.

With rookie phenom Caitlin Clark on the marquee, this first-round matchup between Connecticut and Indiana is spiked with anticipation. Clark set multiple records in her WNBA debut season, and helped lead the Fever to its first postseason appearance since 2016.
However, the Connecticut Sun are poised to end this feel-good story in the first round.
The Sun had six players average 10.5 points or more including Marina Mabrey, who arrived midseason from the Chicago Sky. They handled Indiana at home twice earlier in the season, although both contests took place in the first month of the campaign. Indiana went 17-10 overall after that second road loss to the Sun.
Connecticut was just 7-13 against the spread at home this season, but Indiana is 0-5-1 ATS in its last six games.
Clark led the league in assists and tied for seventh in scoring at 19.2 points per game with teammate Kelsey Mitchell. Connecticut counters with Mabrey (14.9 ppg), DeWanna Bonner (15 ppg), Brionna Jones (13.7 ppg), and DiJonai Carrington (12.7 ppg), not to mention last year’s WNBA MVP runner-up Alyssa Thomas (10.6 ppg).
The pick here is for the Sun to rise above the Clark hype to take the series opener and cover the five-point spread at home.
The two teams combined for fewer than 163.5 points three of the four times they played this season, including both times in Connecticut.
The Sun’s defense, which held opponents to a league-low 73.6 points per game this season, should be the difference here.
Indiana is second-worst at 87.7 points allowed, but the difference between the teams when they played in Connecticut earlier in the season suggests that, although the total is likely to hover around 163.5, it should finish just under it.
Although Clark has yet to score more than 20 points this season against the Sun, she is primed to do so in her playoff debut.
Connecticut held Clark to a 16.5 average in four games, but she scored 19 in their last outing. More importantly, Clark averaged 23 points a game in the second half of the season.
Mitchell and Aliyah Boston will take some pressure off her, so look for Clark to show out in her playoff debut and score more than 20.5 points.
