Independiente and Boca Juniors will face off in the 13th round of the Argentine Liga Profesional’s Clausura tournament this Sunday, October 25.
Independiente is looking to secure its place in the playoffs. Sitting eighth with 19 points, the Avellaneda club is right on the edge of the top-eight qualification places and has a two-point advantage over the team in ninth. With three matches remaining, the club knows that a slip-up could prove costly in its bid to qualify.
Boca Juniors could confirm its place in the playoffs with a win on Sunday. Second in the standings with 24 points, the Xeneizes will be buoyed by their historic comeback against Vasco at the Maracanã in the Copa Sudamericana, which secured the team’s place in the competition’s final.
The teams have faced each other 111 times, with Independiente recording 27 wins, Boca Juniors earning 44, and 40 matches ending in draws.
Independiente is winless in its last three matches, recording two draws and one loss.
Boca Juniors has lost just once in the Clausura, recording six wins and six draws in 13 matches.
