I think this will be close, but my pick here for the first installment of USA vs. Canada is Canada. They may have had a less-convincing win when they beat Sweden 4-3 in overtime, but Sweden looks to be a much stronger team than Finland, who USA beat 6-1.

That first game will have got Canada highly battle tested, which will be a huge factor as they look to take that momentum into this game and get off to an early start. Keep in mind that Canada is also coming off a day longer of rest.

Most will look at the difference in goal, as USA boasts three of the best goaltenders in the league, an obvious advantage over Canada. A crowd alone cannot carry a team to victory, but with what they have shown so far, I think they will be a boost of energy for a Canada team looking to make them proud. This will be a great battle; one I see Canada winning.

No matter who ends up winning what should feel like an all-out war, I think we will see a plethora of goals scored. The 4 Nations Face-Off is absolutely filled with star NHL talent on all four teams, but enough cannot be said about how Team Canada and Team USA are filled out.

Up and down both lineups, they are blessed with many who are considered the best in the entire NHL, but also shoe-in Hall of Fame players who will be some of the best to ever play.

For the rest that do not fall into those categories, they are elite NHL players in their own right. The fact is that all players featured in this game have proven for their whole careers that they have the skill, talent, and effort that can translate into high levels of offense.

Goaltending for USA is like no other, and it was no shock when they only allowed one goal in their first game of the tournament. However, Finland’s attack compared to Canada’s attack is like night and day. The USA players are going to be deflecting an offensive attack that they have never seen before, and I think it is inevitable that Canada scores multiple times.

In the same breath, Canada’s players are going to be facing an equally threatening attack full of elite contributors. USA should also have no issues against whichever goaltender starts for Canada.

Both teams have played in a game that resulted in the over hitting, and I see this happening yet again, as both teams should combine for multiple goals.
