The 2024 World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers will face off against Nippon Professional Baseball’s Yomiuri Giants at the Tokyo Dome on the morning of Saturday, March 15.
The game will serve as a tune-up for the Dodgers, who open their 2025 MLB regular season against the Chicago Cubs in Tokyo on March 18.
For Yomiuri and Japanese baseball fans alike, it is the opportunity of a lifetime. They will get to spectate LA’s Japanese-born superstars Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Roki Sasaki, who all began their careers in the NPB and have since become national icons.
It is unlikely Yamamoto and Sasaki play in the exhibition as they are scheduled to pitch in the Dodgers’ regular season openers against the Cubs. But their presence alone is expected to capture the nation’s attention.
Ohtani, who is coming off his second MVP season and first World Series title, is the biggest and best baseball has to offer in 2025. At the time of writing, it is unknown whether he will take the field in this game.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Yomiuri Giants will be broadcast locally on Sportsnet LA, the regional sports network of the Dodgers.
The game can also be streamed on MLB.TV, which requires a paid subscription.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Yomiuri Giants will begin at 6 AM ET / 3 AM PT on Saturday, March 15. The game will begin at 7 PM local time in Tokyo.
The Tokyo Dome is the home field of the Giants and seats approximately 55,000 people. It also serves as the home of the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame.
