Arsenal will face Manchester City in the FA Community Shield on Sunday, the first trophy of the English soccer season.
Arsenal lifted the Premier League trophy last season for the first time since Arsene Wenger's "Invincibles" did so in 2003-04. Arsenal (85 points) cleared Manchester City (78 points) by seven points and sent legendary head coach Pep Guardiola packing with just six Premier League trophies after 10 years at the club.
Manchester City earned their spot in the Community Shield after winning the FA Cup, defeating Chelsea 1-0 in the Final.
This match will be former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca's first competitive match as the manager of Manchester City, taking over the role which was left vacant by Guardiola's departure.
This match could also be the competitive debut for a few new signings for each team. Arsenal brought in Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes for a $101 million this summer, in addition to Greek winger Christos Tzolis for $40 million from Club Brugge. Manchester City signed English Midfielder Elliot Anderson for a whopping $154 million from Nottingham Forrest.
