Sam Darnold has enjoyed a wonderful season in his first with the Seattle Seahawks, leading the franchise back to the Super Bowl for the first time since the 2014 season.
Darnold signed a three-year, $100,500,000 contract ($55m guaranteed) in the offseason with Seattle and he's put himself in great position to earn even more cash.
The former 3rd overall pick has already made $3m in incentives this season. Here's a look at the additional money he's earned, via Front Office Sports:
$500k for 4,000+ yards
$500k for 67.5% completion rate
$500k for a top-ten offense
$500k for a playoff berth
$500k for a Divisional Round win
$500k for a Conference Championship win
If Darnold and the Seahawks win Super Bowl LX, he would make an additional $1m on top of the $3m he's already earned through incentives. That would bring his grand total up to $4m in additional money that he's played himself into.
Darnold has completely turned his career around. Once considered a bust, he's put together two straight seasons of terrific play, earning two straight Pro Bowl awards.
This season he's completed 67.7% of passes for 4,048 yards and 25 touchdowns, establishing a serious connection with Offensive Player of the Year favorite Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
Turnover-worthy plays throughout the regular season (14 INTs, 11 fumbles) were an issue, but he's cleaned it up in the playoffs (0 INTs, 1 fumble).
Defensive takeaways were the only hope to slow down this explosive Seahawks offense. New England's defense is fast, with shutdown corners and ferocious pass rushers that can force Darnold into uncomfortable situations.
If Darnold continues to play like he has in the playoffs by protecting the ball in the big game, however, he'll be well on track to make that extra million.
