American swimmer Gretchen Walsh, a multi-time NCAA champion with the University of Virginia, will make her Olympic debut this summer.

Walsh has won 21 medals at NCAA Championships, with 18 of those being gold. In the process, she led Virginia to three straight team national championships.

The 21-year-old primarily swims in short-distance freestyle races, but she has found success in butterfly, backstroke and medley races as well.

In 2024 USA Swimming Olympic trials, Walsh finished first in the women's 100m butterfly with a time of 55.31s, second in the 50m freestyle with a 24.15s time, and third in the 100m freestyle with a 52.56s time.

In a preliminary round at the trials, she swam the 100m butterfly in a world record time of 55.18s.

In Paris, Walsh will swim the 50m freestyle, 100m butterfly, and 4x100m freestyle relay.
