The 88th edition of the Masters is complete as Scottie Scheffler claimed his second Green Jacket in three years.
Not only did Scheffler achieve the pinnacle of major championship golf for a second time, but he took home a lucrative sum to go along with his second Green Jacket.
Let's take a look at how much the 2024 champion won, as well as a full prize money and purse breakdown for the tournament.
2024 Masters champion Scottie Scheffler took home $3,600,000 - reportedly $360,000 more than 2023 champion Jon Rahm did when he triumphed at Augusta National.
2024 Masters runner-up Ludvig Aberg took home $2,160,000 - not bad for your first ever major championship.
In 2023, the second place finisher at The Masters took home $1,584,000. As both Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson tied for second, each took home north of $1.5 million.
Top-10 finishers prize money (2024)
1. Scottie Scheffler - $3,600,000
2. Ludvig Aberg - $2,160,000
t-3. Tommy Fleetwood, Max Homa, Collin Morikawa - $1,360,000 (Each gets $1,040,000)
t-6. Cameron Smith, Bryson DeChambeau - $720,000 (Each gets $695,000)
8. Xander Schauffele - $620,000
t-9. Will Zalatoris, Tyrell Hatton, Cameron Young – $580,000 (Each gets $540,000)
You might be wondering why some players took home less than what they should have for where they finished.
For ties, the players split the sum of the prize money for their finishing position and all subsequent spots that no player finished in. So for third-place finishers, they split the sum of the third, fourth and fifth-place prize, hence why their share is less than if they had finished alone in third.
Unlike most tournaments, players that miss the cut at The Masters still get paid. Every competitor that fails to make the weekend will earn $10,000 each.
Unfortunately for amateurs, they don't receive any prize money regardless of where they finish. This was seen in 2023 when amateur Sam Bennett finished in a tie for 16th, but missed out on the $324,000 payout.
The total purse for the 2024 Masters was $20 million - a new tournament high and up $2 million from the 2023 edition.
