The Scottish Open returns to the Renaissance Club in North Berwick on July 11, and many of the game's best players will look to pick up a win and build momentum ahead of the British Open.
Defending champion Rory McIlroy took a break after his putting woes at the U.S. Open, but now tees it up again in Scotland, where he won in stunning fashion 12 months ago.
Here, we have our picks and predictions for the 2024 edition.
England's Tommy Fleetwood was in the mix at this event a year ago. The former European No. 1 posted a third-round 63 to move to within two shots of overnight leader McIlroy with 18 holes to go.
A final-round 72 was not what Fleetwood wanted, however, and in the end he finished T6 at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick as his Ryder Cup teammates McIlroy and Robert MacIntyre duelled for the prize.
Just one missed cut in 13 PGA Tour events this season is the sort of Fleetwood form we come to expect, with eight top-25 finishes.
His most recent start on the PGA Tour saw him post four rounds in the 60s, while he has been top 10 at this event in the last two years. He's fresh coming to Scotland and will be looking to fire on British soil for a two-week swing that brings with it another chance to end his Major quest at Troon.
Tom Kim is making the journey to Scotland in fine form. The 22-year-old was T4 at the RBC Canadian Open last month and then went down in a playoff against the machine-like World No. 1 Scottish Scheffler at the Travelers Championship.
He's enjoyed six top-25 finishes this season on the PGA Tour and was in the mix at the U.S. Open before a final-round 76.
He missed the cut at the Rocket Mortgage Classic the week after but should be fresh now.
Rounds of 66, 65 and 67 in this event a year ago had Kim among the leaders, but like Fleetwood, a Sunday 73 was not what he was after.
In 2022, he finished third in Scotland with rounds of 68-71-69-67 and, clearly, there's a lot to like about his prospects of shining on this return to traditional links golf.
Sweden's Alex Noren has yet to win on the PGA Tour. The 41-year-old is a prolific DP World Tour winner, with 11 international successes to his name.
Noren's wins include the BMW PGA Championship and Open de France in 2017 and 2018 respectively, while he was a Ryder Cup winner with Europe in 2018.
His primary focus these days has been on playing in the US, but his DP World Tour wins also include the Scottish Open in 2016, so this has been a happy hunting ground before.
He has 10 top-25 finishes on the PGA Tour this season and only three missed cuts. It's just a little over six weeks since he was T12 at the USPGA Championship and, if he finds that sort of form, Noren can be a factor again in Scotland.
