Rocket Classic: Picks, Predictions and Odds

Three of the four majors and all of the PGA Tour signature events are now in the books, but there is still plenty of golf to be played in 2025, including this week’s Rocket Classic at Detroit Golf Club.

This is the seventh time the tournament has been hosted at the Michigan venue and Cameron Davis will be hoping to mount a successful defense of the title he won for the second time 12 months ago.

Those eyeing glory will know they will have to post a strong score as a total of at least 23-under- par has been required to win four of the last six runnings of this tournament.

Many of the game’s big names are resting up as they focus on next month’s Open Championship at Royal Portrush and world number five Collin Morikawa is expected to go off favorite.

Keegan Bradley will also have his supporters as he looks to force his way into the American Ryder Cup team he is set to captain later in the year, following a dramatic win at last week’s Travelers Championship.

Harry Hall to win (+3500)

With many of the leading lights putting their feet up this week, there are many competitors who will feel they have a great chance of claiming a trophy and Harry Hall falls into that bracket.

The Englishman finished strongly at the Travelers with a closing 65 that was enough to earn him a ninth-placed finish, which came a month after he was sixth at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

Last week’s closing round should have boosted his confidence, as will his 19th at the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow so he looks ready to take the next step forward after finishing in the top 25 in each of his last five tournaments.

Ben Griffin to win (+2200)

While many eyes will be on whether Bradley can continue his march towards a Ryder Cup playing spot, one player who is also knocking on the door to feature for the Americans at Bethpage Black in September is Ben Griffin.

He has been in the winner’s circle twice already this season having won the pairs event, the Zurich Classic of New Orleans alongside Andrew Novak and then tasted glory on his own at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

Griffin has maintained his strong form by finding only world number one Scottie Scheffler too strong for him at the Memorial, when his opening 65 was enough for him to be first-round leader at Muirfield Village.

He then coped better than most with the gruelling demands of the US Open at Oakmont by finishing 10th in the third Major of the year and he was 14th last week at TPC River Highlands, so there looks a strong chance he will be able to add to his trophy collection in Detroit this week.

Stephan Jaeger to win (+6500)

One player who is a little further down the list who could enjoy an excellent week is German hopeful Stephan Jaeger.

He has generally found the competition in the PGA Tour signature events a little too hot to handle despite a seventh spot at the Truist Championship, but he has performed well in some of the lower-profile get-togethers and this week’s assembly in Michigan falls into that bracket.

Jaeger was 34th at the Travelers, but there have been some notable performances over the last nine months, including a second spot in the Black Desert Championship in October.

Since the turn of the year he has been third at the Sony Open in Hawaii, sixth at the Mexican Open and 11th at the Houston Open, so he certainly has the ability to perform creditably at this level.

And the 7,370-yard, par-72 course he tackles this week has been good to him in the past as he was fifth in 2022 and ninth in 2023, so he knows his way around the Detroit track and should be able to make his presence felt towards the top of the leaderboard this week.
