LIV Golf Mexico City: Picks, Predictions and Odds

The LIV circuit heads south for LIV Golf Mexico City, with several players looking to bounce back from a disappointing Masters.

Bryson DeChambeau flopped in the final round of the Masters, while Jon Rahm failed to recover from a slow start. Tyrrell Hatton plummeted down the Augusta leaderboard in round three, and Sergio Garcia and Brooks Koepka did not even make it that far due to missing the cut at the Cathedral of Pines.

Rahm is +600 for LIV Mexico City, while DeChambeau is on offer at +725. Joaquin Niemann, who failed to contend at Augusta, is available at +850. The Chilean has already won twice on the LIV circuit this year, perched atop the LIV standings.

Chapultepec is the host course for LIV Golf Mexico City. It was the venue for the WGC-Mexico Championship from 2017 through 2020. Dustin Johnson, who won two of those four events, can be backed at +5000.

The action starts on Friday with the first 18 holes of 54. There is no cut.

LIV Mexico City betting picks and predictions

Jon Rahm to win (+600)

Former world No. 1 Rahm has never completed a LIV event outside of the top 10, showcasing his consistency, and there is every reason to expect the Spaniard to be in the thick of things throughout LIV Mexico City.

Rahm improved in each round of the Masters, closing with a 69 for 14th place, and he has followed up his Augusta effort with some sensational practice form. He carded a 59 at Whisper Rock in Arizona, teeing up alongside his friend David Puig, proving that his A-game is bubbling under the surface.

Rahm relishes competition in Mexico, winning the Mexico Open on the PGA Tour in 2022, then finishing runner-up in his title defense. In the WGC-Mexico Championship at this week's venue, he has twice finished third, carding a course-record 61 in 2020.

Rahm finished third in LIV Mayakoba last year - his LIV debut in Mexico - and his love affair with the country can continue this week.

Patrick Reed to win (+1400)

While most of the LIV contingent flopped in the Masters, Patrick Reed finished third, cementing his status as an Augusta force. The 2018 Masters champion could take great heart from his performance in the opening Major of the season and can build on that result by going close to a maiden LIV title.

Reed's form has been excellent in recent weeks, including a runner-up effort in the Macau Open on the Asian Tour, then seventh place in LIV Miami prior to his bold Augusta raid.

Reed won the 2020 WGC-Mexico Championship at Chapultepec, so is the last course winner in this week's field. He should prove a lively title contender again.

It is remarkable that a player of Reed's stature has yet to win a LIV title, despite being one of the first to make that switch. It makes him one of the most motivated stars in attendance at Chapultepec.

Carlos Ortiz top five (+333)

Reed was edged by Carlos Ortiz in the Macau Open a month ago - and this dynamic duo should feature on the LIV Mexico City leaderboard as well.

Ortiz has won twice on the Asian Tour, as well as once on the PGA Tour and once on the LIV circuit, and the Mexican ace can dazzle the home galleries this week.

Ortiz played just once in the WGC-Mexico Championship at Chapultepec, opening with a 75 before closing with rounds of 68, 66 and 68 for 16th place. He has a great record in his homeland, including a Korn Ferry Tour victory there, as well as two runner-up efforts in the Mayakoba PGA Tour event.
