The final event of the 2024 LIV Golf season takes place this week, with the Team Championship to be played in Dallas for the first time.
The last two season finales have been at Trump National Doral in Florida, but the teams will head to Texas this year as Crushers look to retain the title they won in 2023.
Crushers, led by US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau, are the defending champions and can be backed at +320 to win the Dallas event – played at the Maridoe Golf Club.
The exclusive course will pose a stern test for this week’s field, with the par-72 track measuring in at 7,567 yards and featuring plenty of water hazards.
Crushers closest challengers in the overall standings are Legion XIII, who feature Jon Rahm, and they are the +275 favorites to win the Dallas tournament and take the team title.
All 13 teams will compete in a win-and-advance tournament, with the top three teams in the standings – Crushers, Legion XIII and Riper GC – all getting a bye to the semi-finals.
The quarterfinals and semifinals will see two singles matches and one foresomes match to determine who progresses to the next stage.
On Sunday’s ‘Finals Day’ it will be back to stroke play, where all 52 golfers feature and each round counts towards their team score.
After success at LIV Chicago last week, Jon Rahm will head to Dallas full of confidence and expecting to play well.
The Spaniard has won the individual title and can now help his Legion XIII team to success, especially when considering the form of his team-mates as well.
Tyrell Hatton finished fourth - four shots behind Rahm - in Chicago having shot 10-under-par on Saturday and Sunday, carding six birdies in a final round of 65.
The two lesser-known members of the team are going to have to step up to the plate, but they should work off the success of the European pair.
Kieran Vincent showed some good signs when finishing T23 last week, ending the 54 holes on even par, despite a first-round 75.
Young American Caleb Surratt makes up the quartet, with the 20-year-old finishing last in Chicago after a nightmare round of 80 on day one.
Surratt will need a big improvement to help his team get over the line, but he has shown he is capable of better with a 15th-place finish at Greenbrier.
You could argue that the strongest team, man-for-man, currently in LIV Golf are Smash GC and they will fancy their chances of success despite missing out on a bye.
Brooks Koepka, captain of the team, has won twice on the Tour this year and goes into the team event having finished T6 last week.
Talor Gooch won the individual title last year and although he hasn’t claimed a tournament win in 2024, he finished in the top 10 in the final individual standings and shot a third-round 67 to secure a T15 spot in Chicago.
Although Jason Kokrak struggled in Illinois, the American still finished inside the top-24 ‘lock zone’ and enjoyed a decent campaign in his third season on LIV Golf.
The man from Ohio finished fifth and sixth in Las Vegas and Jeddah earlier in the year and was third at Greenbrier last month.
The 2010 US Open winner Graeme McDowell switched teams to Smash in the off-season and finished T29 overall, having recorded three top-10 finishes.
The Northern Irishman’s Ryder Cup experience could also prove crucial when it comes to the Match-Play section of this week’s event.
