LIV Golf Adelaide: Picks, Predictions and Odds

The LIV Golf season continues this week with its most popular event - LIV Adelaide from Grange GC - with more than 100,000 spectators are expected to attend and create a raucous atmosphere.

Adrian Meronk upset the odds to win last week's LIV Riyadh - the curtain-raiser of the LIV season. The Polish powerhouse carded a first-round 62 to take control in Saudi Arabia, then managed to defend his lead from there.

Ahead of the Australia-based tournament, four names dominate the market: Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton, Bryson DeChambeau and Joaquin Niemann.

Rahm tied for second in LIV Riyadh and is the +500 favorite for LIV Adelaide. The fiery Spaniard will have to stay cool in front of the large and noisy galleries.

Hatton tied for sixth place in LIV Riyadh, missing countless short putts down the stretch. DeChambeau has middling form figures of 26-27 from the previous two LIV Adelaide events.

Niemann, who won the Australian Open in 2023, is arguably better suited to the Grange, but he finished 33rd in LIV Riyadh so may not be in top form.

LIV Golf Adelaide betting picks and predictions

Cameron Smith to win and each-way (+1400)

Home hero Cameron Smith may send the galleries wild this week by winning LIV Golf Adelaide.

There were 94,000 fans at last year's tournament and they watched Smith's team - Ripper GC - win the team event. Ripper should fare well again this year, but the Aussies may also get some joy in the individual event.

The passionate and patriotic crowd can inspire Brisbane native Smith, who finished third in the inaugural LIV Adelaide two years ago.

The firm, fast-running Grange GC puts a premium on short-game class, and Smith has always been deadly in this department.

Smith has form figures of 3-2-2-39 from his last four tournaments in Australia.

He ended last year with a playoff defeat in the Saudi International, so has been knocking loudly on the gate of the winner's enclosure.

A share of 25th in LIV Riyadh last week shed the rust from Smith's game and he should thrive on a more suitable track this week.

Lucas Herbert to win and each-way (+2000)

An Aussie one-two seems entirely feasible given how well Lucas Herbert played in Saudi Arabia last week - the Victoria-born 29-year-old tied for fourth place in LIV Riyadh, warming up nicely for a trip home.

While Smith has won three Australian PGA Championships and relishes the chance to tee up at home, Herbert delighted an Aussie crowd by winning the New South Wales Open in November last year.

Grange GC is an ideal layout for Herbert, who has always been razor-sharp on and around the greens.

Herbert has won three times on the DP World Tour and once on the PGA Tour and he may be ready for a LIV Golf breakthrough this week.

A breeze is forecast for the first two days of LIV Adelaide, which will appeal to Smith and Herbert.

Ian Poulter to win and each-way (+3000)

Ian Poulter's large odds may be worth a second glance.

The Ryder Cup legend is almost certainly past his best at the age of 49, but a short, firm layout like Grange, which puts a premium on short-game skills, gives the Englishman an opportunity to shine.

Poulter won the Australian Masters at Victoria GC in 2011, proving his liking for this type of course.

The former world number five, a fearless veteran, can handle the intense atmosphere of LIV Adelaide and may defy his odds.
