BMW Championship: Picks, Predictions and Odds

The top 50 in the FedEx Cup standings head to Castle Rock, Colorado this week for the BMW Championship, the final event before the Tour Championship.

Having seen 20 players cut from the 70 that contested last week's St. Jude Championship, the same amount will bow out at the conclusion of the BMW, with the top 30 heading to East Lake.

Castle Pines Golf Club hosts this year's BMW for the first time and the Jack Nicklaus-designed course, which is a par 72 measuring 7,559 yards, will be a huge test given it boasts tree-lined fairways and well-protected greens.

2024 BMW Championship betting picks and predictions

Aaron Rai to win and each-way (+4500)

Englishman Aaron Rai has enjoyed a consistent season on the PGA Tour and he heads to Colorado sitting 21st in the standings, leaving him in a strong position to reach the Tour Championship.

The 29-year-old has always been a strong performer from tee-to-green and he is seventh in strokes gained in this category, while a ranking of sixth in strokes gained on approach and third in greens in regulation highlight his impressive work.

With Castle Rock being tree-lined, finding the fairways will be crucial and no player on the US circuit has been better than Rai at doing that, as he ranks first in driving accuracy.

A cold putter was stopping from Rai picking up victories but he started working with a new putting coach prior to the Rocket Mortgage Classic in June and there has been a huge improvement on the greens since.

The World No. 21 was tied-second at Detroit Golf Club before following that up with a top-10 finish at the John Deere Classic and a T4 at the Scottish Open.

After ending up T75 at The Open Championship at Royal Troon, Rai broke his PGA duck at the Wyndham Championship and was then tied-16th on his next outing in the St. Jude Championship.

The Wolverhampton-born ace led in greens in regulation and strokes gained on approach last week and, if he can replicate anywhere close to those numbers, he should be in the mix for BMW glory.

Tommy Fleetwood to win and each-way (+2500)

Another Englishman worth keeping an eye out for this week is Tommy Fleetwood, who clinched a silver medal in France at the Olympics before finishing in a tie for 22nd at last week's St. Jude Championship.

The 33-year-old is another reliable player off the tee, ranking ninth in driving accuracy, and he should relish the challenge of keeping things tight at Castle Pines.

Fleetwood is currently just outside the top 30 in the FedEx Cup standings, meaning he needs a solid week to qualify for the Tour Championship, but he has the experience to handle the situation and it would be no surprise to see him in contention for the win.

Sepp Straka to win and each-way (+7000)

Austrian Sepp Straka currently occupies 24th place in the FedEx Cup standings and he knows a strong week is required in Colorado to maintain his place in the top 30.

The 31-year-old impressed at The Open when finishing T22 and it is perhaps no surprise to have seen his performances dip since that difficult Royal Troon test.

Straka has gone T35 and T61 in his two outings since that Major, but he should be able to shake off those displays this week and his driving accuracy ranking of third should give him a solid platform to build from here.

The two-time PGA Tour winner is 38th in strokes gained on approach and, if he can get the putter to warm up, there is every chance he can make a big splash at big odds.
