Our resident boxing expert Rob Tebbutt breaks down this weekend's title bout for the WBA lightweight world title between Gervonta "Tank" Davis and Frank Martin and gives his picks and prediction for the fight.
Real all you need to know about Gervonta "Tank" Davis vs. Frank Martin on site.
This weekend in Las Vegas, we see the return of WBA lightweight champion and one of the sport's biggest stars, Gervonta "Tank" Davis, as he squares off against Frank Martin.
Davis is one of the sport's most exciting attractions in boxing and he'll look to follow up his win over Ryan Garcia last year with another impressive stoppage win over Martin this weekend.
But Martin is a very good fighter in his own right. He had an excellent 2022 with three wins before a very close fight against Artem Harutyunyan in 2023 in which Martin looked like he took some unnecessary punishment en route to a unanimous decision victory.
I think the amount of punishment Martin took in his last fight will tip the scales in Tank Davis' favor.
Martin is a good fighter who will move and use his athleticism. But ultimately, as we've seen in the past, Davis is a very patient and methodical operator who I expect to chip away at Martin before closing the show in the second half.
For me this weekend, it's too difficult to look past Gervonta Davis, so I'll be taking him to win by KO/TKO/DQ at -175.
For extra value, consider taking Davis to win in Rounds 7-12 at +130.
Gervonta Davis | Frank Martin | |
Money Line | -700 | +450 |
To Win by KO/TKO/DQ | -175 | +1200 |
To Win by Decision/Technical Decision | +250 | +800 |
